THE ARCHIVE NOTE

An exceptional expression of Phoebe Philo’s approach to modern tailoring, this herringbone wool coat from Céline’s Fall 2018 collection combines traditional menswear references with an effortlessly feminine silhouette. Cut from richly textured grey herringbone wool, the full-length design features pronounced lapels, structured shoulders, a double-breasted front and a matching belt that subtly defines the waist. Classic trench coat elements, including shoulder epaulettes, adjustable cuff straps and a distinctive storm flap at the back, introduce architectural depth to its otherwise understated construction. Size FR36.

 

THE COLLECTOR’S PERSPECTIVE

From Fall 2018, the final collection associated with Phoebe Philo’s celebrated tenure at Céline, this coat represents a particularly significant chapter in the house’s modern history.
